About Jeff Corpuel
I feel very fortunate to have been a psychologist for the past 36 years. While most of my years of work have been dedicated to working with people in psychotherapy, much of my professional life has also been devoted to supervising and training psychologists. I love helping people to change their lives. I continue to have the honor and privilege of being able to relieve suffering and work with people from various backgrounds with a variety of problems. The problems with which I help people include difficulties in one’s relationships, negative beliefs about one’s self, trauma, anxiety and mood difficulties such as depression and bipolar disorder. I have a psychodynamic theoretical orientation and I primarily work with people in individual and group psychotherapy. Please click here to see the psychotherapy groups I am facilitating.
I help people with whom I work to recognize how their problems are often embedded in their history and interwoven throughout their lives. At the heart of my psychotherapy work is my belief in the importance of being known and understood. In my psychotherapy work I focus on knowing the person with whom I am working and helping them to better understand themselves. I believe we learn about ourselves and develop within our relationships with others. Thus, in individual psychotherapy I utilize the therapeutic relationship as a window through which people can better understand themselves and their relationships. Similarly, in group psychotherapy I utilize the here and now interactions between group members to help people better understand themselves and their relationships. My therapeutic relationship with people with whom I work is extremely important to me as I want people to feel comfortable, safe and cared about.
