About Kim Shippey

In therapy, establishing a relationship is key — it is within the relationship that growth occurs. Although my orientation is mostly psychodynamic with a strong emphasis on mindfulness, I’m comfortable in using many modalities and techniques to help you achieve your treatment goals. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and EMDR. These techniques are especially useful in helping individuals manage overwhelming feelings, emotions, and impulsive behaviors that can get in one’s way. I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 1994 and as such, I have many years’ experience working with diverse populations. Asking for help is difficult — I acknowledge the effort and look forward to being with you on your journey.
